#8098 UF1 RACING 2/17 SUNDAY@RCH!!

Posted by TonyLunaTic on 18 February 2013 - 02:37 PM

I had an AWESOME TIME!!! @RCH yesterday there were some fierce battles in both groups. The track was Great to me, I love tracks like this with invisible groves, nice tight lanes and killer pipes!! These are the tracks that puts you on your A game and makes you a better driver!!

I can't remember the last time I puckered so many times, as I was cutting it closer and closer to the pipes!!

I want to THANK RCH and CREW for having me over to race, can't wait till next time!!!

#7356 We are slowing losing our way

Posted by RCH on 16 December 2012 - 03:48 PM

As per usual, we welcome everyone to join us on our every other Sunday Funday races. We welcome F1's any time, we still run them when there are enough folks out there but yes, the F1's have dwindled down. If y'all would like to hold a F1 race let us know and we'd be happy to set the track up.

Nothing wrong with this thread guys, Its just opinions. We all have our own reasons why we would like to run at this track or that track. In the end their will always be some sort of reason why one will not run at a certain place. This is Human Nature!! The Thread started out bringing in another option for running.

Woody by far has been the first to support the F1 class in the begining. As the group grew and stuck with it, other shops have chimmed in to support "Houston" F1. These Stores also have Planes, Off Road, and Boats. In the End we are not hurting the shops by running somewhere else. I cant Count the number of times that we have looked for something in town that we needed the day before we "needed". The More tracks we run at the more options of hard parts we will be able to get in town. Houston is a very large place. Im glad these other shops are showing interest. Anywayzzz...... Dont discount any shop to be a future track, Keep them all in the loop. But remember, The Woodlands Folks hardly leave that area unless its to ski in New Mexico. So lets do what we can to at least get the Rallys over there because they seem to bring in a ton more new drivers. F1 is awesome!! But Rally is Low Key Fun (everywhere but mikes at least, Mikes its freaking serious!!... those cars MOVE!)

-----------After Thought ---------
Just thinking out load here, But isnt RCH running a "Rally CUP" this Weekend? Which Means........ The F1 for that sunday is not running??!?!! INTERESTING!!!! UN FAIR!!!! LOL Sorry had too!

The event was for the kids more than anything else and they had a blast!! Marcus made me hang his plaque on his door last night!

#4588 What is your perfect club? Just a rant by Dan

Posted by Fatboysracing on 13 July 2012 - 02:49 PM

I agree with Danny, there are always top tier guys who stay with driving the cars and have a little more dedication to driving cause they're always driving something around, maybe in a different class like off road, Marcus, Jones, Frank, Johnny, and Christian don't just go out there and fiddle around and put in small amounts of practice, they put in alot of laps of practice, even if they don't go to the race track every day, take Johnny for example, last time i was out there, he was practicing in between almost every heat and main, same as Christian and Marcus, make some laps, come in and change something, make some more laps, it takes lot and lots of wheel time and tuning to get that good, Johnny was needleing me to change some stuff on my car to make it better, and I was hesitant to do it that night, but have since tried changing the stuff up and have noticed an improvement, so you won't get better sitting on your butt at the track for sure! I think some of the guys we've lost have been a little flash in the pan, thinking they were gonna come in and rule the roost, and weren't fully committed, then realized it wasn't gonna happen in a few short trys and gave up, there's a new guy just started posting that'd proud of his F201, I can't blame him, i like mine too, but I've realized that it's not competative and have moved on, I'm trying to let him know don't be discouraged but facts is facts, it won't do, I hope he comes out, sees how much fun most of us are having whether we suck or not, and stays around, cause even not with the greatest eyesight or reflexes any more, I'm still having a blast!!!

#4218 What is your perfect club? Just a rant by Dan

Posted by danthrc on 06 July 2012 - 12:37 PM

What is a club? How is it defined? What makes you a club member and what is your role? I wonder about these things but have no answer for any of them. Like anyone who searches for perfection, I can only imagine what a real club would be like or not be like. Along with that if you throw in the "human factor" and surrender to the ever differing and changing human brain there probably is no real definition of a club environment because what one sees as good or bad, another is going to see things different.
When I think of the perfect club I see a group of individuals who first of all are motivated by being a part of something cool. It is not measured in numbers but in the fun and excitement that you get by being a part of something that you enjoy and your only wish is that you could do it more. I see individuals who don't sit on the sidelines but jump at the chance to help make things even more fun and cool. I see individuals that have no need to shout out on the driver stand because someone got in their way because they know the importance of every member on the track and by creating a bad experience risks the likely hood of them not returning. I see members who suggest twenty things even if none of them are ever implemented. I see individuals who are willing to support the financial goals of the club so that trophies, swag, and prizes can be part of the events and we all have the opportunity to cash in on them. I see a club where there is not one leader but everyone leads. I see a club that is worth paying a membership if it is designed for rewards for everyone. I see a club that everyone wants to be a part of because of all the reasons stated above.
So as I think about these things I have figured out that the answers are actually in the mirror. Since we all judge things by our own experiences (you know the term "perception is reality") then the sure road to finding that perfect club is to create that vision in your own perception and act on it. In other words your experience is mostly your responsibility. Sure others can spoil some of it but only if you allow it. The great thing is that it is not random. We all have a direction. In our case its our group UF1Houston. The majority of us are enjoying it but how good could it be? Who has that great idea and the courage to step up and work it out and be one of the many leaders to further improve our experiences? More questions.....
Is it hard work to be that proactive? How much work is it to be active at all? With a sport that completely revolves around self satisfaction, fun, competition, and reward, does not take any work at all to be a link in the chain of unity and dedication. It's like anything else. The more who do a little combine to leave a bigger good. If all do a little and we have a bigger good, then we have the perfect club.
Going back to the mirror. The perfect club is staring back at you. It is us as individuals who decide how good our club is or even if we have one based on our actions. Not thoughts, but actions. For me, I've always had the dream of the perfect club and I am always motivated to try to make one. The problem is it is not something that just one of us can do. It must be all of us. So the races will be ran whether we have a club or not. Your role is what you make it. If you are content with just showing up and racing, there is nothing wrong with that. But if you want the perfect club, then find your definition and if you have a chance spread the word and get involved. Support it in every way. If you like things that others are doing then support it to the fullest. Remembering that all of us make up the show, we must all work together to keep the show going.

#4084 M&M Track Rebuild News

Posted by danthrc on 02 July 2012 - 10:05 AM

In speaking with Jeff over at M&M there are some major improvements coming to the track. As you know they just finished rebuilding the off road track and it is probably the best its ever been. I expect that the on road track will be just as awesome when completed. According to Jeff, it should be done by month end.
One of the first major improvements will be a new sealer type on the track surface. We have always used the two year sealer on it and it actually lasts only about 6 - 8 months. Jeff will be applying a 7 year version that is more rubber based and should last much longer as well as give good grip on a "non prepped" track.
Next the track will be longer. He is extending some of it all the way to the fence which will add two more lanes and the ability to do some fun layouts with much more turn options at that end of the track.
Also adding a second loop. This will also enhance some layout options to give us more variety.
The old "lower" drivers stand right next to the main one will be cut in half and raised to match the existing one so it will be much longer. It is also planned to remove all of the front poles on the main stand to get them out of the racers way.
Last, there will be some sort of screen mesh installed along the entire wall behind the main drivers stand. This will help keep some of the dust and dirt off of the track when the off road track is in use. Nothing will keep it completely off but any help is a help.
Oh, and actually last, is the lighting will be improved as well. Still searching for a solution that does not burn so much electricity but will do a good job of lighting the area.

So look forward to some changes to the track at MM. Changes that I'm sure we will all enjoy.

#3306 thursday

Posted by danthrc on 15 June 2012 - 08:27 AM

Can anyone say rip snortin, snot slingin, hellacious great racing time last night? If you can't there is something wrong. The track had so much grip it was almost stupid. Add 20 F1 cars and some TC in the mix and we had a great night of racing. Everyone coming out to get some laps in before Saturday for our F1 Series Trial made the night. Three full heats of F1 and yes. We were still missing people. Man there are allot of F1's in town. I sure hope everyone shows up Saturday as it could be HUGE.
We ran two qualifiers last night as usual on a brand new layout which was also a first timer. We moved the loop a while back which opened up many more options and we explored one last night. Lots of shallow sweepers and very technical leading to the back straight. Johnny Than had his new TRG F111 out and it was fast to say the least. I know him, Marcus, and CJ fought two rounds for TQ and I think Marcus ended up with it (could be wrong) We lined 10 cars up for the A main. Yes.... 10 cars. Not to mention we had a full field of B mainers with two bump ups. Justin got his new radio, and ask him if it makes a difference in the way your car drives. Justin was top spot at the start of the B Main and stayed there to take the win. A ferocious battle for second place went so many different directions it was crazy and exciting. Andreas (Germanese) grabbed second for the final bump spot.
Back to the A - The whistle blew and we were off. The usual nights battle started right up between Johnny, Marcus and the ghost car of Chris Jones. With 10 cars the field was spread out everywhere and it was just a few laps before some of the lap traffic became a factor. It was great to see so many different degrees of driving ability racing together. It was give and take. I didn't hear much bitching from the drivers stand as everyone was focused but there were a few tire rubs going on out there. As a mid pack driver, I found it interesting to have to move over one turn to let the leader by, then the next turn, I'm trying to pass someone. It was absolutely fun mayhem. Chris Jones blew out a spur gear in the middle of the race and it took him out. Marcus and Johnny battled traffic, the track and everything else till the end with like 35 laps. Johnny took the win with Marcus right behind.
It was great after the race. Marcus was walking off the stand squeezing and squinting his eyes. I was doing the same. A few guys leaned on the rail and you could hear a long exhale. Get the picture? That race was fierce but so much fun with all the drivers on the track. It was awesome. We have some of the best racing that can be had going on right now. Please come out and be a part of it!
